I just came across this post for 2022 Hedlanders Past and Present Reunion on 4th December at Batswater. I live at Mitcham. What a pity I didn’t see it before now.
I worked in Port Hedland in 1969 for PWD and later for Bell Bothers.
The PWD camp was located in Light Industrial area out of town past where Bell Bothers were based. We put in all the concrete water pipes for South Hedland which was non existent apart from a few dirt roads which had just been laid. We also put in a sewerage treatment plant and built a structure for an electricity plant.
I enjoyed reading the article by John Rossiter. Brought back a lot of old memories as we were ther at the same time.
